Republican congressmen visit Israel, blast Obama.

Thursday, August 06, 2009 Israel Today Staff

"I don't think we, in America, would want another country telling us how to implement and execute our laws," said Cantor.  In turn Obama dictates, orders the Israelian government... (who gave him the authority to represent Israel anyway?)

A delegation of US congressmen visited Jerusalem on Thursday in a show of solidarity with the Jewish state against the enormous pressure being applied by the Obama Administration for Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria to stop growing.

The group of Republican lawmakers, led by Virginia representative Eric Cantor, the only Jewish Republican in Congress, said that US President Barack Obama needs to get over his new obsession with Jewish settlements and focus on the real threat to peace in the region - Iran's nuclear program.

Cantor said it was premature to be pressing either Israel or the Palestinians so hard when nuclear weapons in the hands of Iran could destroy anything the peace process does manage to accomplish.

In an indication of where he and other Republicans stand on the growth of Jewish communities in areas claimed by the Palestinians, Cantor blasted Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for their criticism of Israel over the eviction of Palestinian squatters from a Jewish-owned building on the eastern side of Jerusalem.
